Clinical Trials for Spine Stabilization System From Applied Spine Technologies Reach Milestone

An initial cohort of 15 patients has reached the two-year mark in an ongoing clinical trial for a posterior dynamic stabilization device designed to support an injured or degenerative spine without eliminating motion, according a release from the maker, Applied Spine Technologies.

The company added that the Stabilimax Dynamic Spine Stabilization System has also received FDA permission to resume a multi-center, randomized, controlled clinical trial, comparing posterior dynamic stabilization with the system to traditional spinal fusion stabilization to treat degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis.

The company has enrolled more than 100 patients in the trials to date.
