ChartLogic’s Patient Portal, which is already included in ChartLogic’s EHR system and was introduced at the 2011 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting, can now be used as an integrated extension for all major EHRs, according to a company news release. The portal allows groups to e-mail patients a copy of their health information, send reminders about visits, provide lab results, schedule follow-up appointments and allow physician-to-physician or physician-to-patient contact electronically.

“To meet the new meaningful use requirements, it’s not enough to simply own a certified EHR — physicians need to show they are meeting the core objectives,” said Brad Melis, founder and executive vice president, ChartLogic, in the release. “An easy-to-use patient portal is essential to meeting many of the requirements. Our new patient portal is customized for surgical subspecialty physicians such as orthopedists, ophthalmologists and cardiologists, and can be used as a complementary module for all major vendor EHR systems.”
