“Germany, Austria and Switzerland represent key international markets for our company,” said SDRI President Glenn Webb. “The size of these markets for spine products, combined with joimax’s reputation for delivering relevant solutions and effective training for spine surgeons, provides us with a great opportunity for growth and to expand the adoption of our Synergy technologies in other markets.”

Here are five things to know about the agreement:

1. SDRI, which developed the SYNERGY Disc, entered into a five-year agreement with joimax for the distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

2. The cervical disc replacement device is designed to actively correct preoperative deformity, prevent postoperative misalignment and provide optimal stability during multi-level procedures.

2. Earlier this week, two surgeons shared initial clinical experiences and preliminary results after using the disc during a luncheon symposium in Germany. The company continues to wait on follow-up data.

4. SDRI plans to gain regulatory approval for the disc in the United States after collecting data overseas.

5. In 2009, the first procedures using this disc were performed. They occurred in Europe. The pilot cases with long term follow-up data were recently submitted for publication.

6. The disc offers multiple alignment corrections for more precise control of the lordis and sagittal balance.

“We have begun to commercialize in the product in Germany and early feedback from surgeons is very positive,” said joimax Founder, CEO and President Wolfgang Ries.
