Bioventus names Thomas Umbel vice president of business development

Here are five things to know:

1. Thomas Umbel is the new VP of business development at Bioventus.

2. He has more than 30 years of senior executive management experience in the medical device and diagnostic field.

3. In his new role, Mr. Umbel will be responsible for identifying new products and solutions to expand the Bioventus Active Healing Therapies and Bioventus Surgical product offerings.

4. Mr. Umbel will also join the executive leadership team and report to CEO Tony Bihl.

5. He has experience with both major corporations and start-ups.
