Atlas Spine launches 2nd expandable device in 18 months

Spinal implant manufacturer Atlas Spine introduced its HiJAK SA expandable cervical interbody system Aug. 19.

Four things to know:

1. HiJAK SA is the second expandable system that Atlas Spine has launched in the past 18 months.

2. Grant Skidmore, MD, a neurosurgeon with Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare, performed the first implantation with HiJAK SA.

3. The implant is designed to restore sagittal alignment when addressing spinal deformities during anterior cervical fusion procedures.

4. Last year, the company launched its HiJAK AC spacer system, an expandable cervical interbody device with adjustable lordosis.
