Amedica signs additional OEM letter of intent supply agreement: 5 things to know

Amedica, a biomaterial company of orthopedic implants, signed an original equipment manufacturer letter of intent supply agreement with an orthopedic device design and manufacturing company.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Amedica will help the company with proprietary design, development, manufacture and supply of silicon nitride spinal implants.

 

2. A biomaterial that contains anti-bacterial properties, silicon nitride can be shaped into complex designs and surfaces for various medical needs.

 

3. Sonny Bal, MD, JD, MBA, Amedica Chairman CEO, said the company is creating many OEM partnerships that will “lead to faster and more widespread market penetration of silicon nitride, positioning it as the biomaterial of choice for medical applications.”

 

4. Amedica develops and applies medical-grade silicon nitride ceramics and markets spinal fusion products.

 

5. Negotiations underlying the actual agreement will take place once all regulatory approvals are obtained without considerable expense.
