Amedica appoints new sales exec, receives FDA clearance for Taurus system: 5 things to note

Salt Lake City-based Amedica Corp. named Dana Lyons its new vice president of sales and marketing.

Here are five things to note:

 

1. In his new role, Mr. Lyons will drive sales of the company’s silicon nitride implants in the spinal fusion market.

 

2. With more than 27 years of sales and sales management experience in the medical device field, Mr. Lyons previously held leadership positions at Stryker’s orthopedics division and Zimmer Biomet’s spine division.

 

3. Amedica also received FDA clearance for its Taurus pedicle screw system.

 

4. The company plans to conduct a full market launch of the Taurus system this year.

 

5. Amedica didn’t receive FDA clearance for its Valeo C+CsC, which is a composite spinal fusion device. This device is already marketed in Europe with positive outcomes.
