Here are five highlights:

1. Composed of PEEK implants, Battalion is titanium-coated for potential osseointegration.

2. The system is ideal for use in patients with degenerative disc disease and offers implants for both PLIF and TLIF.

3. The Battalion system is designed to increase insertion control, with an inserter than loads and unloads the implant with a 180-degree turn.

4. Neurosurgeon Bret Abshire, MD, used the system during a surgery in Temecula, Calif.

5. Alphatec will showcase the new system at the North American Spine Society meeting in Chicago.

“For surgeons, the Battalion system features innovative instrumentation for disc prep, access and implantation and the ergonomic design provides enhanced tactile feel and comfort throughout both dry and wet conditions of surgery,” said Dr. Abshire.
