AdvaMed names new board chairman — 4 notes

Maple Grove, Minn.-based CVRx President and CEO Namid Yared was named chairman of Washington, D.C.-based AdvaMed’s board of directors.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Mr. Yared has served on AdvaMed’s board since 2011 and on the Board of AdvaMed Accel since 2012. He is the past chairman of AdvaMed Accel.

 

2. AdvaMed President and CEO Scott Whitaker said, “As our first chairman from a smaller manufacturer, Nadim brings a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the innovation ecosystem for medical technology that will benefit all our members and patients worldwide.”

 

3. Mr. Yared will serve a two-year term and succeeds BD Chairman, CEO and President Vincent A. Forlenza.

 

4. AdvaMed successfully won a two-year suspension of the ACA’s medical device tax under Mr. Forlenza’s leadership.
