A new study supported Carlsmed's Aprevo spine technology for achieving alignment in adult spinal deformity surgery, the devicemaker said Jan. 8.

The study, published in the Global Spine Journal, assessed Carlsmed's personalized interbody spacers with traditional implants. Sixty-five patients were assessed, and researchers found that using personalized spinal devices led to "significant improvement" in achieving pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis alignments.

"In the publication, data is provided indicating that utilization of Aprevo patient-specific devices resulted in a 42% improvement in achieving PI-LL mismatch within 5 degrees of the surgeons’ preoperative plans," lead author Justin Smith, MD, PhD, said in a news release.
