Stryker on-track to launch Mako spine, shoulder applications this year

Spinal Tech

Stryker is expected to have a strong financial year in 2024, driven in part by the upcoming launch of its Mako shoulder and spine applications, according to a Dec. 31 report from Seeking Alpha.

Stryker saw a 9.2% growth in organic revenue in the third quarter of 2023 and is expecting 10% or more revenue growth in 2024, led by Mako.

Stryker originally announced plans for shoulder and spine applications in 2022 and has since remained on track with its development.

During the company's 2023 earnings call, management confirmed they expect spine to launch in the middle of 2024 and shoulder to launch toward the end of the year.

The company is expecting a fast ramp-up for their spine applications due to the fact that other players already exist in the market and physicians are very familiar with the Stryker Mako name and line of products.

The company expects a slower ramp-up for the shoulder application, as bone preparation can be complicated and it's the first time this application has been seen on the market.
