Surgalign snags best new technology award

Spinal Tech

Global medical technology company Surgalign has been awarded the 2022 Best New Spine Technology award for its Holo Portal surgical guidance system.

The annual award, presented by Orthopedics This Week, recognizes new technologies that have improved spine care, as well as the team and investors that developed the technology.

The award winners are chosen by a panel of surgeons, physicians and scientists.

Holo, the first surgical guidance system to combine artificial intelligence and augmented reality, received FDA 510(k) clearance in January and has been operating in a limited market.

"This peer recognition from leading orthopedic and neurosurgeons and the most-read publication in the orthopedic industry, is a testament to the efforts of an outstanding team of engineers, scientists and physicians," Terry Rich, president and CEO of Surgalign, said in an Oct. 11 Surgalign press release. "I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments to date and the progress we have made over the past year to obtain 510(k) clearance for Holo Portal, further our commercialization initiatives and expand our reach."
