Stryker board member Ronda Stryker and her husband donated $30 million to Atlanta-based Spelman College in support of a new center for innovation and the arts.

"As former educators who believe strongly in social justice, Bill and I have great appreciation for how Spelman provides superior education for students that encourages them to be global change agents," said Ms. Stryker. She also serves as vice chair and director of Greenleaf Trust, an investment bank that her husband chairs.

The $30 million gift is the largest in the college's history and will fund the creation of its first new academic facility in more than two decades. The new facility will be 85,000 square feet and constructed on what is currently a parking lot.

The Stryker family previously donated money to establish Spelman's Gordon-Zeto Center for Global Education, which allows the school to send students abroad. In 2018, the graduating class reported 75 percent studied abroad.
