Benjamin Geddes, MD, of Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics Surgery Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Alex Sielatycki, MD, of Steamboat Orthopaedic and Spine Institute in Steamboat Springs, Colo., completed the first cases, according to a June 9 news release.

“Alex and I are humbled to have the honor of performing the first lumbar total joint replacements in the U.S.,” Dr. Geddes said in the release. “The procedures went very well. Each patient was up and walking within two hours after surgery.”

The company received FDA exemption for the device — which is designed to address leg pain, back pain and spinal instability — earlier in June.
