1. Jupiter, Fla.-based Captiva Spine received two patents for its PIVOTEC Articulating Lumbar Interbody Fusion Device.

2. ConforMIS recently announced it received 22 patents from January 2011 through January 2012 to cover patient-specific implants and instrumentation systems for knee, hip, shoulder, small joint and spine procedures.

3. Crosstrees Medical received a patent for its spinal disc therapy device using Crosstrees Pod technology.

4. Danish company FBC Device ApS received a patent in the United States to cover a series of two-piece implants designed for natural spinal alignment with its Statur line of interbody fusion implants.

5. EF Precision Group, based in Willow Grove, Pa., received a patent for an orthopedic mallet for use in hospitals and orthopedic clinics.

6. Interventional Spine received a patent for its expandable interbody fusion device, the Opticage, which is part of its PerX360 System.

7. KFx Medical received a new patent for its knotless double row rotator cuff repair device, originally filed in 2004 and then was re-examined due to an anonymous request.

8. MedShape received a patent for its shape memory polymer-based technology used during orthopedic procedures.

9. OrthoSensor received a patent for its intelligent orthopedic surgical platform titled “Method and System for Positional Measurement Using Ultrasonic Sensing.”

10. Spinal Restoration, based in Austin, Texas, received a patent for its Biostat System, including the Biostat Biologx Fibrin Sealant.

11. Sonoma Orthopedics received a patent for its core technology based on minimally invasive bone fixation devices during fracture care.

12. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh received a patent for a wireless chip designed to monitor and track surgical implants.
