The robot allows surgeons to create a personalized surgery plan and assists them during procedures. Mako comes with a price tag of about $2.2 million.
The hospital’s president and CEO, Karen Bowling, said the investment is worth it.
“Obviously when you’re purchasing a robot it’s an expensive investment,” she said. “But, at the same time it’s an investment in this community. We’re committed to being invested in this community. We’re committed to the healthcare of the people in this region.”
