Robots have transformed many industries, but will they revolutionize healthcare the way some medical device companies and surgeons say they will?

Vidant Orthopedics in Greenville, N.C., installed Zimmer Biomet's Rosa robot for total knee replacements, Reflector reported Nov. 18.

St. Joseph, Mich.-based Spectrum Health Lakeland added the Mazor X Stealth Edition robotic guidance platform, according to a Nov. 15 news release.

Patients who had robot-assisted total knee replacements had lower complication rates in the first three months after surgery, researchers at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery found.

Clyde, N.C.-based Haywood Regional Medical Center now offers robot-assisted knee replacement surgery, according to an Oct. 26 report by The Mountaineer.

Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Ga., added Stryker's Mako robot for total knee replacements.
