Oregon ASC installs robot for hip, knee replacements

Bend, Ore.-based Cascade Surgicenter is reportedly the first ASC in Central Oregon to provide total hip and total knee replacements with Stryker’s Mako robot.

Three things to know:

1. The Mako robot helps surgeons plan procedures and then guides them through the plan intraoperatively. It is designed to protect soft tissue and ligaments from damage.

2. Fourteen orthopedic surgeons operate at Cascade Surgicenter, which has four ORs and two procedure rooms, according to its website.

3. St. Charles Health System in Bend, Ore., has offered joint replacements with the Mako system since 2017.
