Kentucky hospital offering robotic spine surgery

Bowling Green, Ky.-based Med Center Health believes it’s the first in the state to install the ExcelsiusGPS Spinal Robot, Bowling Green Daily News reports.

The hospital is the third in Kentucky to offer robotic spine surgery, but the first to use the Excelsius platform.

The hospital performed its first procedure with the robot Aug. 11.

The robot uses pre-surgical imaging to assist a surgeon during the procedure to ensure the implant is properly placed.
