7 orthopedic technology products to watch

Claire Wallace -

The field of orthopedic technology is ever-expanding. As surgical robots become more advanced and more popular, more variations of them hit the market. Next-generation robots and other surgery-assisting technologies continue to change the medical field.

Below are seven orthopedic technologies to keep an eye on as the field expands:

1. ZimVie Tether

The ZimVie Tether is a device used to treat pediatric scoliosis. It is the only FDA approved anterior vertebral body tethering scoliosis treatment, helping scoliosis patients in a less invasive manner.

2. Motus device

3Spine's Motus device can be used in total joint replacement procedures for the lumbar spine. It addresses leg pain, back pain and spinal instability.

3. Excelsius3D

The Excelsius3D is a 3D-imaging system that can help surgeons to see a patient's specific anatomy before an operation. It is minimally invasive and gives a more exact picture of the patient's spine.

4. Stryker Mako robot

The Stryker Mako robot can assist surgeons with procedures including joint replacements by creating a patient-specific plan and guiding the surgeon with its robotic arm. It helps surgeons to have more precise surgeries and faster treatment and recovery times.

5. StealthStation navigation

The StealthStation navigation system from Medtronic allows surgeons to precisely locate anatomical structures and monitor the exact placement of surgical instruments during procedures. It allows surgeons to have precise and accurate surgeries nearly 100 percent of the time.

6. ProAxis spine surgery table

The ProAxis table from Mizuho OSI can work hand in hand with 3D imaging technology. It also includes Tempur-Pedic technology for patient comfort and software-driven hand controls to adjust the table..

7. Loop-X imaging robot

Brainlab's Loop-X allows surgeons to perform precise surgeries using the company's Cirq arm along with Loop-X's intraoperative imaging technology for less radiation during procedures.
