California hospital adds ExcelsiusGPS robot — 3 insights

San Ramon (Calif.) Regional Medical Center purchased an ExcelsiusGPS robot to boost its robotic team and assist spine surgeons, Pam Yoo, chief strategy officer for the hospital, said in a social media post.

What you should know:

1. The hospital believes it is the first system in the Bay Area to recently purchase the Excelsius system.

2. The Excelsius system assists surgeons with surgical planning and implant placement. It combines a rigid robotic arm and a fully navigational system in one robot.

3. Globus Medical manufactures the Excelsius system.
