Delaware hospital launches robotic spine surgery: 3 details

Dover, Del.-based Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus installed Globus Medical's ExcelciusGPS robotic guidance and navigation system for spine surgery, reports Sussex Countian.

Three insights:

1. ExcelciusGPS was developed to enhance patient safety and precision with the potential for smaller incisions, less scarring, shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery times.

2. The device fuses a robotic arm and full navigation abilities into one system for precise alignment surgery.

3. The system can be used to treat spine trauma and degenerative and arthritic conditions among others.
