Charles City, Iowa-based Floyd County Medical Center has become the first hospital in the state to use Stryker’s Mako 4 robot, according to an April 18 report from KCHA News.

The first procedure was performed on April 9 by orthopedic surgeon Jeffrey Clark, MD. Dr. Clark is also the only surgeon in the region using a Mako robot to perform direct anterior approach hip replacements.

Mako robots allow physicians to create more personalized surgical plans for patients, resulting in better outcomes, less blood loss and faster recovery times.
