HCA Virginia hospitals complete milestone 10,000th robotic surgery

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, Parham Doctors’ Hospital and Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, all based in Richmond, Va., recently surpassed 10,000 robotic surgeries performed, reports the Henrico Citizen.

The three hospitals are operated by Richmond, Va.-based HCA Virginia. They feature seven robots with over 70 surgeons trained in robotic surgery.

The hospitals treat conditions in a range of specialties including joint replacements, general surgery and gynecology.

Gynecologic oncologist Cecilia Boardman, MD, performed the 10,000th robotic surgery, which was a right ovarian cystectomy.
