Panama City-based HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital has become the first hospital in the region to add a surgical robotic navigation system for spine surgery, according to a June 19 report from MyPanhandle.com.

Robotic guidance helps surgeons to improve accuracy and efficiency during minimally invasive spine procedures. It also helps patients to achieve faster recovery times and less blood loss.

The robot will assist in different types of spine procedures, including minimally invasive procedures to more complex spinal fusions.
