Dr. Kevin Borchard performs 1,000th surgery using Mako robotic system

Kevin Borchard, MD, recently completed his 1,000th procedure utilizing the Mako SmartRobotics surgery system.

Dr. Borchard, who specializes in total knee replacement procedures, reached the milestone in three years, according to a Dec. 11 news release.

Dr. Borchard is an orthopedic surgeon at Colorado Advanced Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Spine in Meeker. 

The Mako SmartRobotics system, created by Stryker, uses 3D CT-based modeling to allow surgeons to build a customized plan for each patient, leading to fewer complications and a faster recovery, the release said.
