Cambridge Medical Center completes 500th Mako joint replacement

Surgeons at Cambridge (Minn.) Medical Center have completed the 500th knee and hip replacement procedure using Stryker’s Mako robot at the facility, according to a May 16 report from the Isanti-Chisago County Star.

The center first added the robot in 2022, allowing patients to undergo procedures with less pain and fewer narcotics, and achieve a better range of motion post-operation. 

Surgeons Richard Birdwell, DO, and Robert Doohen, MD, have performed 554 knee and hip replacements with the robot to date.
