Brooke Medical Center, based in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is the first health center affiliated with the Department of Defense to use the technology.
The robotic guidance system allows for surgeons to conduct preoperative and intraoperative planning, customizable implant selections and optimal implant trajectories.
Air Force Col. Kenneth Bode, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, is trained to use the navigation system at Brooke Medical Center.
“I have personally seen the benefits of this technology and will be using this tool in as many opportunities as available. Ultimately, this novel process improves and enhances our level of patient care,” Dr. Bode told the Distribution Service.
