Arkansas schedules first surgeries with newly acquired robot

A Mako robot has arrived at Magnolia (Ark.) Regional Medical Center, which has scheduled the first two cases with the system for June 7, according to the Magnolia Reporter.

Three things to know:

1. Kevin Rudder, MD, who was hired to direct the hospital’s orthopedic program, is recertifying with the robot.

2. Four knee replacements are scheduled with the Mako system.

3. Magnolia Regional needs surgical nurses to fulfil the additional needs of Dr. Rudder, who began seeing patients at the hospital in April.
