Alaska Native Medical Center expands surgery portfolio with robot 

Anchorage-based Alaska Native Medical Center has acquired the da Vinci XI Surgical System, a surgical robot that assists surgeons in minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, the center announced May 6.

The robot is attached to the laparoscopic instrument and allows for improved visualization and additional range of motion, which allows patients to recover faster with less scarring.

The surgical robot primarily will be used in urology procedures and general surgery at ANMC, the release said.
