7 orthopedic robotic milestones in 2024

1. Orthopedic surgeon Chelsey Durgin, MD, completed his 1,000th successful case with the Mako Surgical Robotic System.

2. Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center has successfully completed 500 joint replacement surgeries with the Mako SmartRobotics system.

3. William Doran, DO, orthopedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist at TidalHealth Orthopedics in Seaford, Del., has completed 1,000 joint replacements using Stryker’s Mako robot.

4. Brian Fiani, DO, of Livonia, Mich.-based Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedic & Spine Specialists, completed his 100th case with Medtronic’s Mazor robot.

5. Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Medical Center reached a milestone of 500 procedures with the Mako SmartRobotics system.

6. Michael Gallizzi, MD, of The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., completed his 300th robotic spine surgery.

7. Surgeons at Cambridge (Minn.) Medical Center have completed the 500th knee and hip replacement procedure using Stryker’s Mako robot at the facility.
