Three notes:

1. Dr. Kanaly is chair of the neurosurgery department and medical director of the hospital’s spine center.

2. Saint Anne’s acquired an ExcelsiusGPS spine robot in 2017. Developed by Globus Medical, the system allows surgeons to create 3D preoperative plans using the patient’s anatomy and guides them through that plan intraoperatively.

3. In 2018, Saint Anne’s Hospital became the first hospital in Massachusetts to earn the Joint Commission’s gold seal certification for spine surgery, according to the report. Last year, it also earned the Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery designation from Blue Cross Blue Shield.
