The iTaperloc Complete and iG7 Hip System are the first orthopedic implants in the world with iodine technology, according to a Sept. 25 news release from Zimmer Biomet.

Iodine technology prevents bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation on the implant surface, helping to stop Periprosthetic Joint Infection.

During the implant manufacturing process, iodine is applied to the implant’s surface, the release said.
