Zimmer Biomet promotes Ivan Tornos to CEO

Ivan Tornos was promoted and is Zimmer Biomet’s new CEO, the medtech company said Aug. 22.

Mr. Tornos was previously chief operating officer, according to a news release. He joined Zimmer Biomet in 2018 as group president of orthopedics.

“It is an honor to be appointed CEO of Zimmer Biomet at a time when our execution is extremely strong and our innovation momentum is at an all-time high,” Mr. Tornos said in the release. “I am grateful for Bryan’s leadership in transforming the company and am now looking forward to leading the team and accelerating our Zimmer Biomet strategy to drive continued growth and boldly advance the standard of musculoskeletal care.”

Former CEO Bryan Hanson will be CEO of 3M’s healthcare spinoff company, the company said Aug. 22. He will step into that role Sept. 1.

Zimmer Biomet also said CFO Suky Upadhyay will expand his role to oversee global operations and supply chain functions.
