Orthopedic medtech company Zimmer Biomet has filed a lawsuit against one of its former executives, claiming he stole confidential information, according to a July 20 report from The Indiana Lawyer.
Zimmer Biomet is seeking an injunction against Kristoff Goson, alleging that he stole company secrets and violated a noncompete agreement after becoming CEO of Pixee Medical. Mr. Goson worked at Zimmer Biomet for more than two decades, leading commercial transformation and developing a number of the company’s orthopedic technologies.
According to the lawsuit, Mr. Goson had “unfettered access” to Zimmer Biomet’s technology development and growth strategies. Zimmer Biomet is claiming that a confidentiality, noncompete and nonsolicitation agreement signed by Mr. Goson is enforceable until Sept. 12, 2027.
An investigation from Zimmer Biomet determined that Mr. Goson had used his personal email address to send himself Zimmer Biomet’s confidential information, including sensitive trade secrets. In addition, Zimmer Biomet claims that Mr. Goson downloaded thousands of company files.
Zimmer Biomet terminated Mr. Goson for cause on March 12, 2026.
The lawsuit seeks a court order barring Mr. Goson — and anyone connected to him, including Pixee Medical — from holding, using or sharing Zimmer Biomet’s confidential information, along with an 18-month bar on Mr. Goson working with or supporting Pixee Medical, the report said.
Pixee Medical did not respond to Becker’s request for comment.
