He received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. In 2020, he was awarded the school’s Teaching Excellence Award for Cherished Housestaff.

As a fellow, he will be involved with clinical care, teaching and research within the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation.

“I’m excited to be the first fellow and hopefully can live up to the Yale standard and start a legacy of a well-respected fellowship,” Dr. McDonald said. “I wanted to pursue a path in adult reconstruction because I loved how predictable and good the outcomes are for patients.”

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
