- Christopher Palmer, DO, a Missouri-based orthopedic surgeon, performed more than 2,000 robotic joint replacements using Stryker’s Mako robot — more than anyone else in the state.
- Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center successfully completed 500 joint replacement surgeries with the Mako SmartRobotics system.
- Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International reported joint replacement procedures at its surgery centers jumped 20% year over year in the fourth quarter and were up 15% for the full year.

- ASC developer and manager Compass Surgical Partners is collaborating with the Advanced Joint and Spine Institute Orlando to open a new Orlando-based ASC that will offer total joint replacements.

- Two studies presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeon’s 2024 conference examined the impact that the drug semaglutide, which is sold as Ozempic to treat Type 2 diabetes and as Wegovy for weight loss, could have on patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty.
