As part of the partnership, Guy Nicolette, MD, an associate clinical professor at the school, will take over as the lead sports medicine physician, according to a Sept. 13 news release from UT Health San Antonio.
The agreement will see UT Health San Antonio serve as the basketball team’s sports medicine provider for the next 10 years.
The two organizations will also launch public health initiatives through an education and fitness campaign.
David Schmidt, MD, and Paul Saenz, DO, who have provided care to Spurs players for the past 30 years, will aid in the transition, the release said.
