Dr. Fu formed UPMC’s sports medicine program and served as chair of the orthopedic department — a role he held for 24 years. The sports medicine program he founded grew into one of the largest clinical and research programs in the world.

He also developed one of the most diverse academic and clinical departments in the U.S.

Dr. Fu died in 2021, and in September, MaCalus Hogan was named UPMC’s new head of orthopedics.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
