The Orland Bethel Family Foundation committed $53.5 million to expand the University of Pittsburgh’s Orland Bethel Family Musculoskeletal Research Center, according to a Jan. 21 news release.
The donation is on top of previous gifts in 2023 and 2025 to create and launch the research center. The Orland Bethel family’s total gifts to the center has totaled to nearly $100 million.
The new gift will include establishing three endowed professorships, an award program for mid-career researchers and thought leaders and efforts to improve recruitment and retention of BMRC leaders.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
