UConn orthopedic surgeon named to women’s leadership fellowship

Katherine Coyner, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and professor at Farmington, Conn.-based UConn Health, was named as a fellow for the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program for women.

The one-year fellowship is designed to prepare women for senior leadership positions in healthcare, according to a June 9 feature in UConn. Dr. Conyer was nominated by UConn School of Medicine Dean Bruce Liang, MD.

Dr. Coyner, a sports medicine specialist, founded the Inspiring Women in Engineering and Medicine program. Her mission is to bring more women into medical careers, especially orthopedic surgery, according to the feature.
