UAB Medicine adds shoulder treatment option

University of Alabama at Birmingham Medicine began offering a new rotator cuff repair procedure, according to a Feb. 10 news release.

Will Brabston, MD, Aaron Casp, MD, and Amit Momaya, MD, are offering the subacromial balloon spacer procedure for relief of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears. The spacer cushions bone-on-bone impacts in severe rotator cuff injuries and helps patients safely rehabilitate their shoulder.

Three cases have been performed so far at UAB Medicine, the release said.
