U of Cincinnati sports medicine team named Big 12 staff of the year

Cincinnati Athletics has been named the Big 12 Sports Medicine Staff of the Year, according to a May 12 news release from the University of Cincinnati. 

This is the first time UC has received this recognition, which recognizes programs for providing top care for student athletes. 

Cincinnati’s sports medicine staff treats 450 student athletes across 18 varsity programs. The team is composed of 13 athletic trainers, a physical therapist and two physical therapy residents, led by chief of staff Brad Pike and senior associate athletic director of sports medicine Aaron Himmler. 

The Big 12 athletic conference consists of the Arizona State Sun Devils, Arizona Wildcats, Baylor Bears, BYU Cougars, Cincinnati Bearcats, Colorado Buffaloes, Houston Cougars, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, UCF Knights, Utah Utes, West Virginia Mountaineers and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
