Indiana Pacers two-time All-Star Tyrese Haliburton underwent surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, according to a June 24 report from the NBA.

Mr. Haliburton tore the tendon during game 7 of the NBA finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is uncertain whether Mr. Haliburton, 25, will be able to return to play next season.

The surgery was performed by Martin O’Malley, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and foot and ankle specialist at HSS.

“Words cannot express the pain of this letdown,” Mr. Haliburton wrote on X the night of June 23. “The frustration is unfathomable. I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense.”

“I know I’ll come out on the other side of this a better man and a better player. And honestly, right now, torn Achilles and all, I don’t regret it. I’d do it again, and again after that, to fight for this city and my brothers. For the chance to do something special.”

Before suffering the tear, Mr. Haliburton scored nine points in 3-pointers in the first seven minutes of the June 23 game, the biggest game in franchise history, according to the report. The Pacers lost to Oklahoma City 103-91.
