Salisbury, Md.-based TidalHealth will integrate Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates into its system through a new entity, TidalHealth Peninsula Orthopaedic Institute, effective April 1, 2026.

POA will remain a physician-owned practice but operate under the institute name at all locations, aligning musculoskeletal services across TidalHealth hospitals, clinics and outpatient centers, according to a Jan. 9 news release.

The institute will unify orthopedic and spine care across the region, with POA providing clinical leadership. Services will span evaluation, imaging, surgery, rehab and long-term follow-up, supported by shared governance, clinical standards and the Epic EHR platform.

The structure brings together POA’s clinical team with TidalHealth’s orthopedic clinics, therapy sites, imaging, durable medical equipment and inpatient trauma care.

TidalHealth plans to expand orthopedic services in Seaford and Millsboro, Del., and enhance offerings at Berlin, Md.-based Atlantic General Hospital.

The organizations also aim to launch an orthopedic surgery residency program, pending accreditation, with the first residents expected later this year, according to the release.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
