The years orthopedic surgeons have seen salary dips

For the last 10 years, orthopedic surgeons’ salaries have continued to grow steadily, with the exception of three years, including 2024.

Orthopedic surgeons saw salary dips between 2018 and 2019 and 2023 and 2024, according to data from Medscape’s yearly compensation reports. From 2020 to 2021, the salary remained stagnant. 

Between 2018 and 2019, orthopedic surgeons saw a $15,000 salary dip, moving from $497,000 a year to $482,000 a year. 

Between 2023 and 2024, surgeons once again saw a $15,000 dip, moving from $573,000 to $558,000.
