The Midwest sees the largest proportion of knee replacements in the U.S. every year, with 31 percent of procedures occurring in the region, according to a May 16 report from healthcare data company Definitive Healthcare

Distribution of knee replacement procedures by region: 

1. Midwest: 31 percent 

2. Southeast: 28 percent 

3. West: 18 percent 

4. Northeast: 15 percent

5. Southwest: 8 percent
