Texas orthopedic surgeon dies after being struck by train

Cy Daneshfar, MD, an orthopedic surgeon from Lubbock, Texas, died Oct. 20 after he was struck by a train while walking on the tracks near the town of Merkel, according to a report by San Angelo Live.

Deputies with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office said they think Dr. Daneshfar’s car broke down on Interstate 20. He then walked up the train tracks for an unknown reason and was eventually struck and killed, according to the report.

Dr. Daneshfar graduated from Lubbock-based Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 2018.
