Here are five notes:
1. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Fields attended Tennessee Tech.
2. He received the award for exhibiting “professional excellence by achieving success and recognition such as to effect great pride among the faculty, staff and alumni of TTU,” according to Idaho State Journal.
3. Right out of high school, the St. Louis Cardinals recruited Dr. Fields. He broke his humerus during a game, and later became an orthopedic surgeon.
4. Before joining Bingham Memorial’s Orthopedic Institute, Dr. Fields had a private practice.
5. Dr. Fields completed his residency at Southeastern Medical Center in North Miami Beach, Fla.
