Orthopedic surgeons David Ruch, MD, and Marc Richard, MD, completed the first wrist fixation surgery with the Acu-Loc NEXT System developed by Acumed.
The Acu-Loc NEXT System, which earned FDA clearance in August, has a redesigned screw platform and streamlined instrumentation, according to a Dec. 16 news release from Acumed.
The new system aims to advance wrist fracture fixation and builds upon the original Acu-Loc System that debuted in 2004.
Dr. Ruch and Dr. Richard are both professors of orthopedic surgery at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.
